Teenagers often find traditional talk therapy frustrating or embarrassing. Being asked to articulate feelings they can't yet name, to a stranger, in a clinical setting — it's a lot. Many teenagers disengage from therapy before it has a chance to help them. Hypnotherapy is different enough that teenagers who'd never engage with a psychologist are often genuinely willing to try it. It doesn't require them to explain themselves — it works through guided focus and imagination rather than conversation.
- No one asks your teen to talk about their feelings for an hour. Sessions are relaxed, and most teens find them genuinely interesting rather than awkward.
- Common issues: exam anxiety, social anxiety, low confidence, sleep problems, school avoidance, self-doubt, and emotional regulation.
- Teenagers are usually responsive hypnotherapy clients — their minds are still forming patterns, which means those patterns can change quickly.
- Parent involvement is welcomed — particularly at the initial consultation. During sessions, teens typically prefer their own space, which we facilitate.
A note for parents: it can feel like you're running out of options. The GP doesn't have time, the school counsellor has a six-week wait, and your teenager refuses to go to a psychologist. Hypnotherapy's approach is different enough that it often gets traction where other things haven't. The bar to 'give it a try' is low — sessions are relaxed, non-clinical, and your teenager stays in control throughout.

Parent Consultation
We start with a conversation with you — the parent — to understand what your teenager is going through, what's already been tried, and what change would look like. Your teen doesn't need to be present for this. It helps us ensure the sessions are tailored precisely.
Teen Sessions
Sessions are conversational, relaxed, and adapted specifically for adolescents. We use language and approaches that respect where your teenager is — without being patronising. Most teens report finding sessions surprisingly easy, and some are pleasantly surprised by how quickly they notice a difference.
Progress
Change can happen quickly with teenagers. Some notice a shift after one or two sessions. We work progressively, building on what's changed, and we'll keep you as a parent informed of broad progress (with appropriate confidentiality for your teen).
