Smoking damages your lungs and can lead to Emphysema

The Negative Effects of Smoking

Have you thought about quitting smoking but have not yet tried with success? Or, maybe you have given it a try, but are still smoking cigarettes?

We don’t have to preach to you to tell you that it’s bad for your health. You already know about potential consequences.

Lung SurgeryBut you probably did not know that every smoker has damage to their lungs. That’s right, autopsies show signs of damage in every smoker, so there is no way to stop this damage without actually quitting smoking. The damage the smoking does to your lungs is wide and varied, but includes damage that is shown to lead to Emphysema. This can easily be upgraded to a much more serious illness – Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease! (COPD)

COPD is incurable and will bring you to a slow, painful death; unless you get a lung transplant. You may have to wait years for a lung or two. COPD can also be manifested in another illness that most, if not all smokers are inflicted with on a consistent basis – Chronic Bronchitis.

Why get sick every winter for the rest of your life? Just so you can keep smoking? Needing antibiotics to fight off infections or just being sick is really not so much fun.

Asthma vs. Emphysema

If you have difficulty breathing, then you probably have Emphysema. Asthma is similar, and you may or may not have Asthma. Don’t lie to yourself by thinking that Asthma is your only problem and can possibly be treated.

Getting checked by your doctor is the only way to confirm it. Make an appointment as soon as possible and ask them to send you for a special test at the hospital, or specialist medical centre, to check your lungs.

Why would you want to continue living life without being able to have a proper intake of air? Air is required to function well. If you are not getting enough air into your lungs, then you are not getting enough oxygen to your body.

Free Radicals and Longevity

Without the right amount of oxygen, free radicals will build up in your blood cells, and you can become physically sick in a plethora of other ways. Free radicals prevent youthfulness and cause you to age much faster than the average person.

Cigarettes are not the direct cause of aging, free radicals are. The more of these free radicals that build up in your system, the worse you become in terms of health and longevity.

The Progression of Emphysema

Our bodies were not meant for cigarette smoke and other toxins. Any toxins that enter your body and lungs will damage the fragile linings of the air sacs beyond repair, with Emphysema resulting.

Emphysema advances progressively, and is shown in the following stages:

  • Air pockets develop as fragile tissues between the air sacs are damaged
  • Air pockets become imprisoned in the ravaged lung tissue
  • Breathing requires more effort as the lungs become enlarged

Scientifically speaking, smokers are 6 times more likely to be diagnosed with Emphysema during their lifetime than those who do not smoke. But it's not as commonly known that in every autopsy of a smoker there are signs of Emphysema. Put simply, there is no way to smoke and not cause scarring to your lungs.  Maybe you are thinking it’s too late since the damage has been done. It is never too late to get healthier. There are so many choices these days in ways to quit smoking, and with the rise in the costs of smoking it makes more and more sense financially.

Quitting smoking will reduce the rate at which this serious illness develops. Enjoy the rest of your life more fully without having to depend upon a crutch like tobacco.

Your Way Out

Don’t become a part of the 24 million people in the world who have with Emphysema and don’t know it. Did you know that more than 3 million people died of COPD in 2012 alone? That number has surely gone up now that we are in the year 2015.

If you are thinking about quitting, there is a way. Using hypnotherapy to reach the subconscious parts of your mind is extremely effective. It can be difficult to reach these parts of the mind without some assistance.

Where there's a will there's a way. Take every ounce of your willpower and make the decision to quit. Become invincible against this unhealthy desire. Hypnotherapy is a very effective way to achieve this. With hypnosis we help you change your mindset using the power of the unconscious mind. This is so much more powerful than the willpower of your conscious mind.

It Won't Take Long!

Remember, it only takes a short time to get over the hardest hurdle towards quitting for good. The worst part is over before you leave the clinic. After just 3 days there is absolutely no nicotine in your system anymore. With hypnosis we deal with your old habit and ways of thinking. You leave the session without the habit, and feeling great as a non smoker.

You may (otherwise) have urges psychologically much longer than 3 days, but this is where hypnotherapy comes in.  Many of our clients leave and never have urges to smoke again, it's just simply done.  And of course, the challenge in quitting is far less than the health challenges that may lie ahead.

If you deal with stress by smoking cigarettes, then you will need to find other outlets. We discuss these during your session and give you strategies and techniques to deal with this. These could include having a massage, go for a walk, play a sport or simply relax with activities that are not so hard on your lungs instead of lighting up.
